The funeral service for Betty Jane Bruske, 87, of Rochester, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eyota, with the Rev. Jon Vollrath officiating. Betty, a child of God, has been wrapped in the arms of our Lord and went to live with him on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, after a lengthy fight with COPD and other health issues. Betty was born June 8, 1934 in Porcupine located in the town of Frankfort, Wisconsin to Wilson and Beatrice (Rageth) Livingston. She grew up in the Pepin, Wisconsin area where she attended Pepin High School. Betty married the love of her life, Carroll Bruske, on Sept. 22, 1951 in Plainview. They lived in Racine and Stewartville, where they raised their family before moving to Rochester in 1989. Betty was a stay at home mom for many years; she then went to work at the Rochester Airport Restaurant, Hanson Truck Stop, Textile Care Laundry and was employed for 21 years at St. Marys Hospital in the laundry until she retired in 2001. Carroll was a longtime southeast Minnesota area realtor and auctioneer until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Bruske died on July 7, 2017. Betty was a past member of St John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville and Christ Lutheran Church on Marion Road and currently a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eyota. Betty enjoyed cards, Bingo, working puzzles, her trips to the casino and time spent with grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Survivors include her four children, Judy (William) Donahue and David Bruske both of Rochester, Patty (Arvin) Schmidt of Houston and Linda (Craig) Gochnauer of Dodge Center; 15 grandchildren, Malisha Donahue, Michelle Donahue, Bob (Beth) Donahue, Catherine Bruske (Mark Schopp), Joshua (Kim) Bruske, Randy Bruske (Carla Aldrich), Elijah Bruske, Jeremy Fenske (AshleighTerrase), Dustin (Jolene) Fenske, William Schmidt, Dan (Jill) Schmidt, Travis (Tessa) Schmidt, Brandon Allen, Lisa Allen and Tanner Gochnauer; 23 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Larry, Dwayne and Michael Livingston. She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll, her parents, an infant son Michael, a son Randy, a granddaughter Jennifer, a sister Gladys Breidung, and three brothers David, Robert and James Livingston. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place for two hours from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eyota. Following the funeral service and a time of fellowship, the burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
