James Dean Allen (Jimmy), of Las Vegas, Nevada died Monday, May 30, 2022 after a short illness at the age of 60. The family is deeply saddened by his sudden death. Jim was born Oct. 5, 1961 in Rochester to Jerry and Marilyn (Hanson) Allen. Jim grew up in Stewartville where he attended Stewartville Public Schools. Jim was employed for several years in the family bakery business in Stewartville, was married to Linda (Bruske) Gochnauer and later divorced. Jim is survived by his two children, Brandon James Allen and Lisa Marie Allen, and three grandchildren. Jim had many business ideas, was a trucker for many years, then a bakery manager for HyVee Foods in Fairbault. He later opened his own bakery in Luck, Wisconsin, where he and his longtime significant other of 27 years, Amy Walstrom, expanded the business to supply the local community grocery stores and restaurants with bakery goods. Jim and Amy sold the bakery and then bought a supper club in Luck called The Luck-E where he served many great meals to locals and visitors alike. After many years of frigid Wisconsin winters, Jim and Amy moved to Florida and opened the local bar and grill and tiki bar called 5 O'clock Somewhere in their residential community of Deer Creek in Davenport, Florida. After some years in Florida, Jim and Amy had the opportunity to buy a small drive-in restaurant in Fredric, Wisconsin (Jimmy's Drive-in) and was only opened seasonally. After visiting Las Vegas several times, they decided to make that their second home, where he resided until he passed away. Jim is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Florence Allen of Spring Valley; maternal grandparents, Evald and Helen Hanson of Stewartville; and his father, Jerry Allen, of Granstburg, Wisconsin (formerly of Stewartville). Jim is survived by his mother, Marilyn (Hanson) Allen of Davenport, Florida; his longtime significant other, Amy Walstrom of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, Brandon Allen of Dodge Center; daughter, Lisa Allen of Kasson; his grandchildren, Isabella, Madelyn and Jesse; brother, Gary (Terri) Allen of Davenport, Florida; sister, Kristin (Joel) Finch of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; Dufi (Chris) Geist of Haines City, Florida; and many nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Florida.
