Funeral for Harriet Skaar held June 2 in Hayward, Wisconsin

The funeral service for Harriet Louise (Frydenlund) Skaar, 102, of Hayward, was held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Hayward Lutheran Church in Hayward with Pastor Josh Enderson officiating. Burial was in Hayward Cemetery following the funeral.
Harriet passed peacefully at her beloved home on the farm near Hayward on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, surrounded by family members.
Harriet was born on April 30, 1920 on the Frydenlund family farm south of Hayward, the youngest of 12 siblings, to John and Nora (Alm) Frydenlund. She attended country school in District 36, Hayward Township, through eighth grade and then attended Albert Lea High School and graduated with the class of 1938. During the World War II years, Harriet supported the war efforts by working for a munitions plant in the Twin Cities.
Harriet was united in marriage to Ashle Skaar on Sept. 9, 1947 at Hayward Lutheran Church where they were life members. Together they raised a family of seven children and operated a successful productive dairy farm with prize-winning Guernseys. Harriet was an active member of Hayward Lutheran Church and was involved in church organizations including WELCA, Mission Circle, and Bible study groups.
Survivors include her seven children, Suzanne (Daniel) Parker, Sandra Skaar, Peter (Arlene) Skaar, John Skaar, Steven Skaar, Alfred Skaar, and Ann (Jack) Croswell; 10 grandchildren, Ben (Ally) Parker, Anne (Peter) Frosch, Matthew (Ashley) Parker, Sarah (Paul) Atkins, Kate (Scott) Dole, Emily (Jens) Loberg, Peter (Jo) Croswell, Michelle (Adam) Morgan, Nicole (Eric) Codega, and Christopher Skaar; 15 great-grandchildren; special Norwegian cousin, Ola Limoseth; one sister-in-law, Helen Frydenlund, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Ashle; her parents; five sisters; six brothers, and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Thanks to Mayo Hospice for their support and compassion. Memorials suggested to Hayward Lutheran Church, Hayward Cemetery, or to a charity of your choosing.
Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea assisted the family.
