Funeral Mass for Lance Larson held July 1 in Wabasha

Lance C. Larson, age 10 of Kellogg, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, at home with his family by his side after bravely fighting a lengthy illness of primary liver cancer.
Lance Christian was born Aug. 8, 2011, in Rochester, to Leigh and Lori (Schoeppner) Larson. Lance lived in Rochester from birth until age four when his family moved to Kellogg. Lance was a protective brother and very close to his sisters. The three siblings looked out for each other and found great friendship with one another. He just completed the fifth grade at Wabasha-Kellogg Public School. Being active was a way of life for Lance as he enjoyed baseball, wrestling, football and four-wheeling. He loved being busy. In addition to being active, Lance was an outdoor-loving kid where he spent time fishing, swimming, going on pontoon rides, riding his bike, and being with friends. He also enjoyed gaming with his friends online.
Lance was a genuinely happy child. His positive attitude and kind disposition made it easy to be friends with him. He always had a smile that he shared with those around him. He had a sense of humor, and loved to play practical jokes on his friends and family. He also was a generous kid, who would offer up assistance to others in need without being asked. He was a big helper to his twin sister Hannah throughout their childhood. Lance was a supportive and encouraging teammate in all of the sports he played. He truly enjoyed the relationships he built with his teammates, coaches and classmates. He was very coachable and strived for perfection in everything he did. He had a strong desire to learn and it came naturally to him. Lance handled life's challenges with determination, optimism and resilience. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. His passing has left an incredible emptiness in our lives.
He is survived by his parents Leigh and Lori Larson of Kellogg; sisters, Jeanette and twin Hannah at home; maternal grandfather, Dan Schoeppner of Stewartville; aunts and uncles, Matt (Jodi) Schoeppner of Byron, Jill (Lyman) Guy of Spring Valley, Lynn (Ed) Richards of Wabasha, Lyle Larson of Kellogg, Lonnie Larson of Kellogg, and Loren (Deanna) Larson of Wabasha; and numerous cousins and friends, including his best friend and fishing buddy, Carson Dorn of Wabasha.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, LaVonne Schoeppner; paternal grandparents, LaVerne and Constance Larson; and aunt, LaNaye Larson.
The Funeral Mass was held on Friday, July 1, 2022, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with Rev. Prince Raja officiating. Interment was at St. Agnes Cemetery in Kellogg.
Services were entrusted to Abbott Funeral Home & Crematory in Wabasha.
