Mass of Christian Burial for James Granahan Sr. Aug. 20 at St. Bernard's
James P. Granahan Sr., age 87, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at home.
He was born on June 17, 1935 in Iowa to Dennis and Lucile (Musel) Granahan. He proudly served in the United States Marines and during the Korean War. He worked many years as a heavy equipment operator, and especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
He is survived by his sons, Dennis Granahan, Kenny (Kim) Granahan, Matt (Toni) Granahan, Paul (Raelene) Granahan, and Jim (Michelle) Granahan Jr.; son-in-law, Bill Pritchard; stepsons, Kam Schmehr and Loren Karr; brothers, Joe Granahan, Tom Granahan, Don (Donna) Granahan, and Bill (Karen) Granahan; sister, Dorothy (Pat) Hurley; sister-in-law, Marge Granahan; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Lucile; daughter, Teresa Schneider; granddaughter, Jessica Schmehr; stepdaughter, Kim Pritchard; brothers, Robert and Gene Granahan; and sister-in-law, Jackie Granahan.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 116 4th Ave. SE in Stewartville, Minnesota. Full military honors and a luncheon will follow at American Legion Post 164 in Stewartville. Private burial will be held at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh, Iowa.
