Melissa Howe and Jason Schmidt were married Sept. 26 at the Veteran's Pavilion in Austin. A reception was held at the Hormel Historic Home. The couple's four children, Jon, Bryan, Megan and Madilynn stood up for their parents during the ceremony. Matron of Honor was sister of the bride, Elizabeth (Howe) Morales of San Antonio, TX. Bridesmaid was Sheila Knode of Spring Valley, friend of the bride. Best man was Corey Schmidt of Urbandale, IA, brother of the groom and groomsman was Dave Amelsberg of Hudson, WI, friend of the groom.
Parents of the couple are Phyllis Howe of Stewartville and the late Maynard Howe, and Bette Schmidt of Iowa City, IA and the late Robert Schmidt.
Melissa graduated from Stewartville High School in 1999. She attended Minnesota State University, graduating in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education.
Jason is a 1996 graduate of Forest City High School. In 2003 Jason received his degree in criminal justice with a certificate in law enforcement and attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 2004.
Melissa is currently a fifth grade teacher with the Albert Lea School District. Jason is currently employed with the Worth County Sheriff's Office.
The couple reside in St. Ansgar, IA.
