Standing in the living room of Joel and Carol Raygor's home in rural Stewartville, Oleksandr Shevchuk spoke from the heart.
Far from his home in Berdychiv, a historic city in northern Ukraine, Shevchuk thanked the Raygors for welcoming him, his wife Nataliia and 14-year-old daughter Sofiia to America.
Speaking the Ukrainian language as tears filled his eyes, his words weren't clear to the Americans present until Viktoriia "Vika" Shevchuk, the Shevchuks' other daughter, translated them into English...
