The group set its sights on the United Kingdom (including England and Wales), home of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of scouting.
The initial plan was to travel in 2020, but the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic delayed the trip in both 2020 and 2021. During the Christmas holiday season, as 2021 turned into 2022, the travelers planned the adventure for June 2022.
Andrew Knight, a Stewartville scout leader and native of Great Britain, has scouting connections with his family in the UK, and still has a UK driver's license.
"(The trip was) a great opportunity for the scouts to experience another English-speaking culture with a history going back thousands of years," he said...
