Football stomps KM to win 1AAAA title, earns berth to state
The undefeated No. 1 Stewartville football team (10-0) and Big Southeast Blue Division District Champs won the MSHSL Section 1AAAA title with a 46-22 victory over No. 2 Kasson-Mantorville at Rochester Mayo on Nov. 4. The playoff triumph earned the Tigers the top seed in the MSHSL State AAAA Championship bracket and pitted them in a state quarterfinal matchup with Section 2AAAA champs, Hutchinson on Nov. 10.
The Tigers racked up 400-plus yards of total offense, outgaining the KoMets 430-276, with 347 yards rushing and 83 yards passing. Running back Owen Sikkink had a career game, scoring five rushing touchdowns while gaining 190 yards rushing on 30 carries, as well as three receptions for 20 yards.
