On a cool, sunny and breezy June 11 Sunday afternoon, local and area residents gathered in large numbers to celebrate the grand opening and dedication of the new Stewartville Veterans Park.
Roger Peterson, a member of Stewartville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8980 and master of ceremonies for the occasion, told the audience the park began as a dream of Maurice Sinn of Stewartville, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II who was 93 years old when he died on Aug. 12, 2018.
