Seven Stewartville girls have earned the Junior Bronze Award, the highest honor for a fourth- or fifth-grade Girl Scout.
Five of the girls attended the Stewartville City Council's Tuesday, June 13 meeting, explaining in a PowerPoint presentation how they earned the honor by teaming up for a geocaching project, an outdoor treasure-hunting activity in which participants use Global Positioning System (GPS)-enabled devices.
Teegan Sand, Katherine Chappuis, Ella Baune, Brooklyn Lechtenberg and Savannah VanDenHemel of Girl Scout Troop 47893 all contributed to the Power-Point presentation, explaining that in geocaching, hiders use a geocache app to provide clues for seekers, who use GPS on their devices...
