A team of goats is chewing on the buckthorn at Bear Cave Park.
Tim Senjem, owner of Senjem Goat Pros of Oslo, said the goats began browsing near the park's archery area around Saturday, April 15. As of last week, the animals were doing well, he said.
"It's kind of a late green-up for this spring," he said. "There's not a lot of greenery out there now. But they did what I wanted them to do. They ate a lot of the buds and they stripped some of the (buckthorn) bark."
The goats, contained within a solar-powered, electric net fence, will graze among Bear Cave Park's underbrush probably until the end of October, Senjem said...
