Stewartville Middle School sixth graders named Terrific Kids for the 2018-19 school year gathered at the SMS mini cafeteria on Tuesday morning, May 7, to eat bananas and doughnuts provided by members of the Stewartville Kiwanis Club. The club sponsors the Terrific Kids program to recognize students who work hard and have a good attitude at school. Lori Torgerson, a teacher at the Wee Care Learning Center at St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Stewartville Kiwanis Club, is happy to report that Wee Care families have donated 35 sets of new socks to the Kiwanis Club's annual "Sock It To 'Em" sock drive. Fareway shoppers who rounded up their grocery bill to the nearest dollar between Monday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 8 contributed a total of $967.75 to this year's Food for Kidz, enough to assemble and package 6,451 meals. "We encourage people like you to be the best you can be," Hagen said. "We like to come and give encouragement so you can be the best student, the best friend, and the best citizen."
Mary Brouillard, the only charter member of the Kiwanis Club still part of the group, was honored for her contributions.

With winter fast approaching, the members of the Stewartville Kiwanis Club are thinking about the importance of warm feet. That's why the Club is sponsoring its fourth annual Sock It to 'Em sock drive. Beginning on Monday, Nov. 2 and continuing through the month of November, Stewartville and area residents are welcome to drop off new socks at Bremer Bank. All sizes and all types of socks, from preschool to adult, are needed.
