5/15/2017 11:45:00 AM Dog is run over during Citywide Garage Sale
Letter to the Editor,
Thursday, May 11 in the afternoon around 2pm, I let my daughter and son-in-law's 2 beloved small dogs out in the front yard, as I do several times a day. I take care of my infant grandson and that is something I do, as I also am a animal lover. I was sitting in the front room with my grandson, and the one small dog is tied out, the older male Dachshund ALWAYS STAYS IN THE FRONT YARD. Their house is at the end of the block on 4th ave SE and is not a thru street. Since the city wide garage is going on this week, many people turn around in their driveway.
I thought I heard one of the dogs barking, when I got up to take a look, to my shock and horror, a brown jeep newer model Grand Cherokee was there with the women driver standing on the passenger side of the vehicle, with the little dog all mangled and barely hanging on to life. I picked him up, carried him in the house as not to leave him laying there. When I came back the woman was gone! No apology, not even asking if she could do anything, just left. I do not understand how someone could be SO HEARTLESS! I met my daughter in Rochester which took, I am certain, twenty minutes to get to a Vet that was open and available, since the one in Stewartville was not. My heart is broken for I knew the poor little dog suffered immensely. We are all still grieving and certain we will, for a long time to come. I do not understand how anyone could have no conscience. I have to live with this, you obviously don't.
Kathleen Gray,
Rochester MN
