After discussing the matter thoroughly last week, the School Board agreed to consider changing the metrics by which the Stewartville School District issues a COVID-19 mask mandate for students and teachers.
After sharing ideas for more than an hour at its regular business meeting, the Board directed the district's administrative team to consider possible revisions to the district's COVID Mitigation and Response Plan.
After the administrators review the possible changes, the School Board is expected to discuss the issue again at its Monday, Dec. 13 meeting, then vote on a possible change at a meeting set for Monday, Jan. 10, 2022.
Ryan Ravenhorst, School Board member, said the decision to vote on a possible change in January will give district parents plenty of time to vaccinate children ages 5-11 against the coronavirus (COVID-19)...
