Clausen is All-Academic
Decorah, Iowa - Tennis player Sydney Clausen, a 2019 SHS grad and junior majoring in biology at Luther College, has been named to the 2021 American Rivers Conference Fall Sports All-Academic Team. This is the second consecutive year she has earned this honor. Clausen is the daughter of Karl and Susan Clausen of Rochester.
Byrne excelling at throws
Allendale, Michigan - Shane Byrne, a 2019 SHS grad and sophomore thrower on the Grand Valley State University Track & Field team, placed sixth with a personal-best (PB) distance of 18.72m, besting the NCAA DII provisional distance mark of 17.84m while competing in the GVSU Holiday Open indoor meet on Dec. 3. During the 2021 outdoor season this past spring, Byrne recorded a PB throw of 57.16m in the hammer throw at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet, threw a personal-best in the weight throw at the GVSU Big Meet, landing a distance of 14.83m; and earned the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Award.
Shane is the son of Jeff and Dorie Byrne.
