Our beautiful, kind, giving mother passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021, in Hayfield from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
Florence Elizabeth Ahlgran, daughter of John Nelson and Inga Marie (Lewis) Ahlgran was born on Sept. 10, 1926, on the family farm in Ryder, North Dakota. After high school, Florence moved to Tacoma, Washington, and worked several jobs. She met and fell in love with Walter Jensen Jr. and on Aug. 18, 1951, they were united in marriage. They moved to his family farm in Hayfield. Their family grew to include two sons and two daughters.
After starting her family, Florence began a long career in retailing, spending 40 years at Sears & Roebuck in Rochester, retiring just before her 80th birthday. She loved finding the perfect ensemble for her customers and through the years, many of her customers would ask for her by name. Learning about the fashion industry had her traveling to New York, London, and Paris in search of the latest trends and enjoying every experience visiting fashion houses in theses iconic locations.
Florence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 70 years and enjoyed meeting with her circle and helping with the quilting group. Florence was a long-time member of ABWA -American Business Women's Association and the local Red Hats Society. Florence loved meeting people and sharing stories.
She loved having all her family gather for the holidays and prided herself on setting a pretty table, complete with jello salads and several desserts. She was an avid collector of Dicken's Village and displayed them year around.
Florence is survived by her loving family, Steven (Christine) Jensen, Michelle (Joe) Dahlby, and Lori (Chris) Mein; nine grandchildren, Megan (Jeremy) Fogelson, Nicholas Jensen, Rachel Jensen, Andrew (Cori) Dahlby, Katie (Andy) Quarfoth, Mara (Paul) Turner, Anna (Jeff) Scheuermann, Joe (Meaghan) Mein, and Hannah Mein; great-grandchildren include, Caleb, Clare, Saul, Thad and Audra Fogelson, Charlotte and Georgiana Jensen, Matthew, Luke, and William Dahlby, Sophia and Cecilia Quarfoth, and Colin and Brian Turner.
