8/4/2021 7:32:00 AM Philip Condon, 79, dies following short illness
The Mass of Christian Burial for Philip L. Condon, 79, of Stewartville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug, 2, 2021 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville, with Rev. Kevin Connolly officiating.
Mr. Condon died on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 following a short illness with cancer at Mayo Clinic Rochester-Methodist Campus.
Philip Lawrence Condon was born on June 5, 1942 in Fairbault, to Philip A. and Kathleen (O'Neill) Condon. He grew up in Morristown, attended school there, graduating in 1960. He enlisted into the US Air Force, serving over seas in Germany.
Philip was married on Jan. 13, 1968 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault to Mary M. Yerhot. The couple moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where Philip was stationed, until his discharge in 1970. They moved to Stewartville in 1971, where they raised their children and have continued to make their home. Phil was a self-employed electrical contractor for a number of years and was employed for 20 years as a driver with Rochester School Bus. Mary was employed as a nurse at Mayo Clinic for over 40 years. Mrs. Condon died on Jan. 27, 2019. Philip was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville and belonged to the Stewartville American Legion Post 164. He was an avid bowler belonging to men's leagues in Stewartville and Rochester. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV, especially football. He loved time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Philip is survived by his daughter and son, Nathan (Bree) Condon of Rochester and daughter, Kateri Condon of Stewartville; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Olivia Condon of Stewartville and Nolan Condon of Rochester; sister, Barbara Condon of Morristown; three brothers, James Condon of Fairbault, Mark Condon and Leslie Condon both of Waseca; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary and his parents.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 9:30-11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church on Monday morning. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston.
