After serving on the Pleasant Grove Township Board for 21 years, Nate Redalen has decided to retire.
Before the Board's annual meeting last week, township officials honored Redalen for his service, giving him a T-shirt inscribed with the words, Retired: Not My Problem Anymore, and a coffee cup with the message, First Coffee, Then the Adventures.
"We're sorry to see Nate go," said Rosemary Oeltjen, town treasurer. "He has been an asset to the Board."
Redalen joined the Board in March 2000, even though his name hadn't even been on the ballot. Instead, a significant number of Township residents started a write-in campaign on his behalf. The strategy worked...
