Pictures with Santa, sponsored by the Stewartville Kiwanis Club, a longtime Stewartville Christmas tradition, was cancelled this year by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Last year, Rachel Reiland, then 6, of Stewartville, shared her Christmas list with Santa Claus as her brother Jonathan, then 8, waited his turn.

For many years, the Stewartville STAR, on its Editorial Page, featured its Street Beat column, which offered local and area residents an opportunity to comment on a variety of topics.
Almost every year, a week or two before Christmas, the Street Beat question was, "What does Christmas mean to you?"
