Dr. John Grams, retiring after 26 years as pastor at Grace Evangelical Free Church, says he and his wife, Renae, will continue to live in Stewartville, where they’ll be involved in some form of ministry. “We will be doing a lot of traveling,” he said. “I will miss the preaching and teaching the most, and of course, the people.”

Having retired as pastor at Grace Evangelical Free Church as of July 1, Dr. John Grams has mixed, bittersweet emotions.
His feelings, he says, are triggered more by his memories of his 26 years at Grace Church than by the fact he'll be retiring as a minister.
"Ministers never fully retire, I am told," he said in an email. "Partly because we can still preach and teach, as long as the voice holds out."
Looking back on his more than a quarter century at Grace, his best memories include building the Grace building as a ministry tool, watching AWANA, the Church's kids program, grow past 100 participants, expanding the Church's youth ministry program to include more than 50 kids, and adding a worship center and a youth wing...
