Mindful of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Stewartville's firefighters have cancelled two popular autumn events.
Vance Swisher, fire chief, said the Fire Department will not host its annual fundraising breakfast or its well-liked Fire Station open house, both of which are normally held in October.
"A number of people who attend the breakfast are elderly," Swisher said in a telephone interview last week. "We don't want to have an event that would cause an outbreak of COVID-19."
The large numbers of people who attend both the breakfast and the open house would exceed the state of Minnesota's limits for indoor and outdoor gatherings during the pandemic, Swisher said...
