Hoping to plant a tree along your boulevard? Thanks to a newly proposed ordinance, you may be able to do so soon.
If the City Council approves the new ordinance, it would reverse an earlier decision that prohibited Stewartville residents from planting trees on the city's boulevards.
Cheryl Roeder, city clerk, said a draft of the ordinance, to be discussed at City Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 22, requires residents to pay a $20 fee to plant the new boulevard trees.
Homeowners who plant new trees along their boulevards will be responsible for purchasing, maintaining and removing the trees, the proposed ordinance states...
