DeCook Excavating of Byron, now working on the building’s foundation, continues to make progress on the construction of the new Cabin Coffee store at the parking lot just north of First Alliance Credit Union. Kevin and Robin Splttstoesser, longtime Stewartville residents, have purchased the parking lot as the coffee shop’s future home. Cabin Coffee’s owners and managers hope to open the nearly 2,000 square-foot shop in April 2021.

City leaders are taking action to welcome Cabin Coffee to Stewartville.
The City Council, at its Tuesday, Oct. 13 meeting, unanimously approved a conditional use permit that will allow the business to build a drive-thru at 310 North Main Street.
Mayor Jimmie-John King and councilpersons Craig Anderson, Brent Beyer, Jeremiah Oeltjen and Josh Arndt all OK'd the special permit.
The Planning & Zoning Commission, which held a public hearing on the matter on Tuesday, Oct. 6, recommended the Council approve the permit with no conditions. Arndt, the City Council's representative on the P&Z Commission, said the group had no issues with the drive-thru...
