The Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Summerfest celebration at Bear Cave Park for the first time, with most events scheduled to be held on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4. Traditionally, the event has been held at Florence Park. Responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce scaled back its Fourth of July Summerfest celebration in 2020. A mini-parade with about 10 units, including Olmsted County deputies, the Stewartville American Legion Post 164, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8980, Mayor Jimmie-John King and Chamber of Commerce representatives, wound its way through the city's streets on a hot and humid Saturday, July 4. But this year, as it has been for many years before COVID-19 hit, thousands of spectators from across southeastern Minnesota and beyond are expected to line up three- and four-deep along the streets of Stewartville to watch the Chamber's annual grand parade.
