Workers are making progress on the construction of the new amphitheater at Bear Cave Park.
Les Radcliffe of Radcliffe Homes and Remodeling said last week he hopes the project is completed by the end of June.
"The structure is up and the roof is on," he said.
Five full-time and one part-time employee are building the amphitheater, he said.
Radcliffe and his crew have worked with Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH), the city of Stewartville's engineering firm, to put up the structure.
"We've had some discussions," Radcliffe said. "We're waiting for the engineer to do drawings on the stirrup brackets to tie the posts and the beams together."
Workers had hoped to finish the project in time for bands to use the amphitheater for the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Summerfest celebration. However, with the coronavirus (COVID-19) forcing the Chamber to cancel this year's Summerfest Street Dance, there's no pressure to finish by July 4, Radcliffe said...
