Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce leaders have not yet made a formal decision on whether to include fireworks as part of this year's Fourth of July Summerfest celebration.
Gwen Ravenhorst, Chamber administrator, said in an e-mail that the Chamber's decision will depend solely on the safety of the community, its citizens, event volunteers and all security forces.
"If there should be a fireworks display, people would be encouraged to watch from home or in a drive-up setting," she said. "Vehicles would be allowed to park only on pavement or gravel, and drivers and their passengers must stay inside their vehicle."
To protect the community from the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and to follow Gov. Walz's executive orders, the Chamber advises people not to gather outside their vehicles to watch the fireworks, either in public or private spaces, Ravenhorst said...
