Although fundraising has been delayed by the coronavirus (COVID-19), an anonymous donor has offered a matching, dollar-for-dollar donation of up to $50,000 through the end of 2020 to help pay for the new Veterans Memorial near Stewartville's south entrance.
Heather Holmes of Community & Economic Development Associates (CEDA) of Chatfield, who works with the city's Economic Development Authority to assist current businesses and attract more companies to Stewartville, shared that news with the EDA at its regular monthly meeting last week.
"Every dollar we raise from here (until the end of 2020) will be matched, which is pretty exciting," said Holmes, a veteran who is helping the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) chapter raise funds for the project.
