Girl Scouts from Stewartville Troop 45014 have a plan to improve the city's dog park. Mary Becker, troop leader, and sixth-grade scouts Jasmine Ringen and Clara Henderson attended last week's City Council meeting to discuss adding amenities to the park, located near the city's brush dump and just north of Stewartville's wastewater treatment plant. Kimberly Evans, Bailey Schumacher and Emma Whipple, three other sixth-grade scouts, didn't attend the meeting but plan to help with the project, which will include adding picnic tables, benches, fire hydrants and agility equipment. The five girls who participate will earn the Bronze Junior Award, the highest award for Girl Scouts in their age group.
