The Stewartville and Rochester fire departments have agreed to work more closely to fight area fires.
The City Council, at its Tuesday, Aug. 25 meeting, authorized Stewartville Fire Chief Vance Swisher to enter into an automatic aid agreement with the Rochester Fire Department.
Mayor Jimmie-John King and councilpersons Craig Anderson, Brent Beyer and Jeremiah Oeltjen all approved the agreement. Councilperson Josh Arndt was absent.
Swisher, in a memo to the City Council, wrote that the agreement will allow the simultaneous dispatch of both Stewartville and Rochester fire resources in 25 sections of Rochester, Marion, High Forest and Pleasant Grove townships...
