In memory of Sam Becker, Anytime Fitness of Stewartville auctioned off 29 Christmas wreaths Monday, Nov. 30 through Monday, Dec. 7.
The event raised $836 for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), said Jared Johnson of Anytime Fitness. Buyers paid an average of $28.82 per wreath, he said.
Every spring, Anytime Fitness hosts the Samuel L. Becker 5K (3.1-mile) Walk-Run, an event held to raise money for NAMI in memory of Becker, a former certified personal trainer at Anytime Fitness who suffered from mental illness before taking his own life in February 2016...
