Masked up and socially distanced as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Stewartville city officials gathered for the annual truth in taxation meeting last week.
Karla Strain, city finance director, reported that the city's certified operating levy is $3,344,675 for 2021, an increase of $143,075 from the city's $3,201,600 levy for 2020.
The certified operating levy for 2021 does not include the city's $141,749 swimming pool referendum nor its $132,589 Fire Hall referendum, Strain said. The pool is scheduled to be paid off in full in 2026, with payments for the Fire Hall completed in 2033, she has said.
