Todd Uptagrafft, a longtime umpire for the city of Stewartville’s summer softball league, has agreed to take over as the league’s new director, replacing Kevin Heydt, league director for more than 30 years. “Because Kevin stepped down, I knew they needed somebody,” Uptagrafft said. “I’m replacing a legend. I only hope to be half as good as he was.”

As a longtime umpire, Todd Uptagrafft has enjoyed being part of the city of Stewartville's summer softball league.
"I like the banter back and forth with the players," he said. "I like the competition. I get to see a lot of good softball."
This summer, Uptagrafft plans to continue his umpiring duties while also serving as the league's new director. Kevin Heydt, softball director for more than 30 years, has resigned from the job.
