1/11/2021 11:32:00 AM Board reaffirms support for ZED facility
School officials continue to support the construction of a new Zumbro Education District (ZED) facility for students with special needs. The School Board, at its regular meeting last week, unanimously agreed to adopt an amended resolution concurring with an earlier decision to build the 61,000 square-foot building on 3.16 acres in Kasson. Rebecca Wortman, School Board chair, and members Ryan Ravenhorst, Will Welch, Lori Miller-Beach, Nichol O'Neill, Todd Emanuel and Scott Romens all approved the resolution. The amended resolution extends the timeline for the ZED Governing Board to sell the bond to pay for the construction of the new building to June 30, moved up from Dec. 31, 2020, said Belinda Selfors, superintendent. In early 2020, the ZED Governing Board delayed plans to build the facility after the Pine Island School Board voted against the construction plans. The Governing Board, which included representatives from seven area school boards, including Stewartville, Blooming Prairie, Byron, Hayfield, Kasson-Mantorville, Triton and Pine Island, had proposed the new facility...
