Resilient SHS Band plays before live audience
Coming together on the second day of spring on Sunday evening, March 21, members of the Stewartville High School Band performed before a live audience for the first time since January of 2020. For the first time since January 2020, the Stewartville High School Band performed before a live audience last week.
With the Jazz Ensemble and ninth-grade Concert Band playing at the Performing Arts Center and the 10th- through 12th-grade Symphonic Band in the SHS gym, Stewartville High School was rich with the sound of music on Sunday evening, March 21.
Jessica Honsey, band director, said although live music has been noticeably lacking from people's lives, whether it be attending a rock concert, listening to groups perform at restaurants or a farmers market, or listening to the Pep Band at football, volleyball and basketball games, the March 21 concert represented something much bigger, namely, resilience in the face of COVID-19...
