After season-ending injuries to three of its varsity scorers in the final two meets of the regular season, the Stewartville/Chatfield gymnastics team limped through the MSHSL Section 1A Championships at Rochester Century on Feb. 15. Competing without Emilee Otto (dislocated elbow), Bea Martin (concussion), Destyni Manthey (severe ankle sprain), the Tigers scored 125.700 points to claim eighth place in the nine-team Section 1A field. Becca Fox led Stewartville/ Chatfield, placing 14th out of 71 gymnasts with an all-around score of 32.45. She recorded a personal-best 8.5 (14th place overall) on the vault, a 7.85 (13th) on the bars, 7.625 (26th) on the beam and 8.475 (18th) on the floor to tally her total. Anna Myhre also placed in the section's top 20, placing 16th overall with a total of 31.475 in the all-around scoring. She posted an 8.25 (21st) on the vault, 7.2 (26th) on the bars, a personal-best 7.7 (24th) on the beam, and 8.325 (22nd) on the floor for her total. Izzie Schei recorded a personal-best score of 8.45 on the vault against the elite section competition. "We competed with strong routines and achieved a pretty good team score even with three team members out due to injury," Tiger coach Courtney Gehling commented. The Stewartville/Chatfieldgymnastics team was honored with the MSHSL Section 1A Team Academic Award, boasting a cumulative team GPA of 3.903. Emilee Otto and Becca Fox were recognized as top 15 Section 1A scorers to earn All-Conference honors, and for posting an average score of 8.5 in six meets, Emilee Otto earned All-Section honors on the vault.
