Lily Welch knocked down a 14-foot jumper, scoring her sixth of 16 points against Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Tigers' 75-35 Section 1AA win on Feb. 20. With that bucket, Welch became the Stewartville High School girls basketball all-time leading scorer with 1,592 points, passing Shawna Sperber, who finished her career in 2011 with 1,591 points.
The playoff win was the third of three in recent action and sixth in a row for the Stewartville girls basketball team, which finished the regular season with an 11-4 record in the HVL, 18-8 overall. The Tigers' final regular-season wins included a 55-44 non-conference win over Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Feb. 13 and a 61-51 win over Pine Island on Feb. 14...
