New Stewartville boys soccer coach Mitch Amundson will implement some changes, including playing style, system and expectations, but with a little time, he is confident that the 11 Tiger letterwinners who return in 2020 have the potential to improve on last year's 4-10-1 record.
Despite the graduation of goalkeeper Matthew Muller and four major impact starters in David Wilson, Patrick Miller, William Mueller, Noah Vande Loo, that solid core of 11 talented Tigers will succeed by using their speed and experience.
Eight of the 11 that are back for Stewartville hope to bury the ball in the back of the net. Those forwards and midfielders are Noah Looney, Noah Stageberg, Connor Kropp, Jake Petrich, Armando Vargas, and Mason Ramaker, along with midfielders/defenders Brady Pickett and Tristan Sieler. Three talented defenders in Keegan Zelinske, Josh Olson and Ethan Stone will protect the Tiger goal.
"We will have extensive senior leadership, playing with speed and experience in the attack," Amundson explained. "We hope to ride the senior experience and leadership with innovation from a new coaching staff looking to build a solid technical and tactical foundation for the future."
