Despite the loss of six players to graduation, the Stewartville girls soccer team returns 12 talented letterwinners and is looking to improve on last season's 8-5-2 record and a shootout loss to Red Wing in the second round of the state playoffs.
Back to bolster the 2020 roster are HVL All-Conference players, midfielder Kate Pedelty as well as attacker and the team's leading scorer, Hailey Lewis. Four other returning starters and HVL All-Conference honorable mention players who are back include goalie Ava Myhre along with defenders Khloee Zelinski, Alyssa Jones and Nicole Schultz.
Rounding out the 12 returning letterwinners are six players who were major contributors to the Tigers' 2019 success. Having an impact on this year's potential are midfielders Ella Quam, Rachel Husgen and Sarah Watters as well as attackers Ella Waltman, Violet Nelson and Claire Ruter.
"We have a large number of upperclassmen returning, so experience will be our strength this season," Tiger coach Morgan Bailey noted. "Our maturity will be huge in intense game situations."
"As long as we remain healthy and adapt to the set COVID-19 guidelines, we will have a strong showing this season," Bailey mentioned. "The girls have the drive and determination to play solid soccer and win games."
