Haylie Strum led start to finish, capturing first place out of 22 runners to boost the Stewartville girls cross country team to a team low 27 first-place points. That score was 13 points better than second-place Kasson-Mantorville with 40 and third-place Goodhue with 53 at an HVL triangular at Stewartville on Sept. 17.
The young Tiger boys team was led by sophomore Caleb Goff, who sprinted to the front of the 21-runner field out of the starting shoot and never looked back. He led the Stewartville boys cross country team, 39 team points, seven shy of first-place Kasson-Mantorville with 32 points and 11 better than third-place Goodhue with 50 points.
