Debra Faye Brummond, 63, of Chatfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at her home.
Deb was born Feb. 6, 1957, in Rochester, to Raymond and Constance (Allen) Horstmann. Deb grew up in Chatfield, and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1975.
On Nov. 8, 1975, she married Garry Borgen, they later divorced.
On Sept. 12, 1998, she married Ronald Brummond. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on the Brummond family farm in rural Stewartville. After Ron's passing, Deb moved back to Chatfield to be closer to her kids and grandkids.
Deb worked in the insurance business, with an office in Root River State Bank, and then in selling agriculture insurance at Agstar. She was on the Chatfield Commerical Club Board for a few years, becoming vice president and then president in 2003-2004. Deb was a member of Chatfield Lutheran Church for many years, teaching Sunday school and serving on other committees. She was also a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary 6913, in Chatfield, currently holding the office of chaplin. Deb loved to travel, being in the majority of the 50 U.S. states, two Caribbean cruises, and her favorite cruise of the Mediterranean, where she visited Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Spain. Deb was a loyal Minnesota Viking fan, and her favorite of all was Matt Blair. She was a cherished friend to many, and she was known for her strength, optimism, kindness and sense of humor. Her family and faith were the center of her life, her most precious role was that of a mother and grand and great-grandmother. She loved her family and family vacations to upper Wisconsin each year.
Deb is survived by children, Lindsay (Chad) Eide and Casey (Heather) Borgen, both of Chatfield; three stepsons, Adam Brummond (Sarah Lahalih) of Los Angeles, California, Jeffery (Laura) Brummond of Jackson, Wyoming, and Mitchel (Brianna) Brummond of rural Stewartville; seven grandchildren, Haley, Connor, Hendrick, Kellan, Presley, Salem, and Jordyn; one great-grandson, Zayden; her brother, Craig Horstmann of Rochester; and her sister, Cheryl Danielson of Chatfield.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Constance, husband, Ron, and nephew, Jason Danielson.
A private funeral will be on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Chatfield Lutheran Church with Pastors Mark Docken and Nissa Peterson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Chatfield.
Public visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at Chatfield Lutheran Church from 5-7 p.m.
