1/18/2021 9:27:00 AM Celebration of Life for Dorothy Shepperd planned for this summer
Dorothy A. Shepperd , 88, a longtime Stewartville resident, was called to eternal rest on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at the Stewartville Care Center where she had been residing since the end of December .
Dorothy Ann Fasching was born on Jan. 28, 1932 in Winsted, to Raymond and Louise (Lester) Fasching. She was raised in Winsted and graduated from Holy Trinity High School, class of 1950.
Dorothy was married on Dec. 9, 1951 in Howard Lake, to Howard Shepperd. Following their marriage the couple lived in Stacy, and then Minneapolis. They moved to Stewartville in 1974 where they raised their children and have continued to make their home. Dorothy was a homemaker and was employed at Bonner Elementary School in Stewartville for seven years as a paraprofessional. Howard was employed with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for over 30 years until his retirement. Dorothy was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville, where she taught Sunday School and release time classes and served with the Altar Guild, ladies aid and Couples Club. Dorothy and Howard enjoyed traveling together, going on cruises and visiting their children across the country. Her hobbies included knitting/quilting/sewing and reading, and following the Mn Twins. Dorothy loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 69 years, Howard; four daughters and three son, Patti (Brian) Andersen of Flowermound, Texas, Bruce (Cheryl) of Maple Grove, Brad (Gail) of Euless, Texas, Beth Stone of Haslet,Texas, Brenda Sheffer of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Pam Beirne of Rochester, and Jason (Tonya Stewart) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Stonecypher of Charles City, Iowa; and brother, John Fasching of Salida, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Wilfred Fasching, sister, Constance Mallak, sons-in-law, Daniel Beirne and John Sheffer.
No service is planned at this time. A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will take place this summer, the date and time to be determined.
